Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji

The whole Universe is supported and permeated by the Supreme Lord. Everything in this universe is part of His divine body. Serving any being becomes His service. Realizing this fact is  spirituality.  Spirituality teaches us to be selfless and rekindles love in our hearts. This love  pushes us to action in serving the society selflessly. With these Mottos ‘Serve All Beings as Service to God’, and ‘Worship your Own Respect All’, Jeeyar Educational Trust (JET) was formed in 1981 by HH Sri Sri Sri Trindandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. The inspirer of this organization was Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji (1909-1979) who followed the path laid down by a great social reformer Sri Ramanujacharya (1017-1137).

Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji

peddajeeyar10The rejuvenating spirit and idealogy of Sri Ramanuja appeared as it was, in the divine form of Acharya H.H Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji.  HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji showed us the direction, as foreseen and propagated by Sri Ramanuja himself, 1000 years back.

Swamiji extended the same opportunity to every person to become a part in the service to God, by conducting programs like

  • Sri Rama Kratu
  • constructing homes for the downtrodden
  • performing Yajnas for the benefit of society
  • conducting first All India Vedic conference and
  • transforming every single person that came on His way, no matter whether they had belief in God or not.

A Pioneer, Inspirer & Path Maker in the Spiritual World

Whenever there is a necessity to uphold ancient Dharmic tradition, the Lord Himself descends or sends His devotees to this world. Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Pedda Srimannarayana Jeeyar Swami was one such great devotee who was born in this world to revive Ramanuja’s Vision –  Universal Brotherhood and Universal well being.

After Manavalamamuni, in the Vedic lineage of Bhagavad Ramanuja, towards the modern era, it is only Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji who strived a lot in spreading the divine messages to the nook and corner of the country. HH conducted a number of Yajnas throughout India for the sake of peace and prosperity to the people in the society.

HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji exemplified the actual Vedic practices in a sacred manner and reap their benevolences in service to the mankind.

Swamiji led many social movements to eliminate superstitions and unauthentic practices that were dominantly prevalent in the society in those days.

He is the first one to conduct All India Vedic Conference in the Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi during 1973 in which 4000+ scholars from all over the country and also Nepal have participated. The then Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi voluntarily attended the congregation, just for a slot of 15 minutes but, spent about 2 hours enjoying the Divine activities, highly praising the wonderful efforts of HH Sri Swamiji in preserving the glory of Vedic traditions and culture.

Birth & Childhood

Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji was born on Sep 1, 1909 in Kakinanda town of Andhra Pradesh India to the divinely blessed couple Sri Vangipuram Mangayarya and Choodamba. On the very 7th day after birth, a big king cobra was seen spreading its hoods to protect him. This was an  extra-ordinary incident to show the divinity of our Swamiji. When mother prayed to Lord, the snake disappeared. Parents  named the baby boy “Thiruvengalacharyulu”.

HH Studies

Swamiji studied Sanskrit, Tarka, Nyaya and Vedanta at Tuni and various other places. During Swamiji’s tutelage under Sri Rangacharya, H.H came into contact with Sri Gopalacharya Swami and their friendship culminated in a unique association. Both of them studied Sri Bhashya under the guidance of a famous scholar Sri Ramanujacharya of Mandasa, Srikakulam. Later, Sri Srimannarayana learnt Bhagavad Vishaya (Tamil Prabandham) from Sri Gopalacharya, who thus became his Guru.

Today, this is known as Harijana Vada in Arthamur village with 124 houses and thus Swamiji became the beacon of hope and inspiration for all the modern social reformers.

Enriching Association of Sriman T.K. Gopalacharya Swamy

When Srimannarayanacharya was just 20 years old, a life long and divine friendship started with great Acharya, Sriman Gopalacharya Swamy. They shared the common goal of distributing this great Philosophy of Vishistadwaitha (qualified Monism) to all. Sriman Gopalacharya got very much attracted to the ideals and selfless service of Srimannarayanacharya and determined to work together for achieving the common goal of spreading the pious Vedic tradition all over India.

This friendship later transformed the future of south Indian Sri Vaishanvism and its understandings. Sri Gopalacharya motivated Him to utilize His energies for reviving the values of Sanatana Dharma and Visishtadwaita, which were gradually getting obliterated. This prompted Sri Swamiji to start the Visishtadwaita Pracharaka Sangham.

HH became its Secretary while Sri Gopalacharya Swamy was its President. During this period when the atheistic movement was gaining foothold in South India, Swamiji spread the message of our Vedic culture, facing many hardships.

Sri Rama Seva

In Tamil Nadu, the Dravidian movement was denigrating Lord Rama and our ancient culture. Perturbed by the sacrilege committed by those in the movement, Sri Swamiji went to Chennai and performed Sri Ramayana Parayana for 27 days with 300 scholars from Andhra Pradesh.

Without any cooperation from locals, Swamiji boldly conducted the recitation of Sri Ramayanam on the platforms of Chennai Railway Station. Later He spread the message of Sri Ramayanam and Sri Rama Naama at various places and stifled the propaganda of the anti-Vedic movement.

For almost half a century (till 1996), Sriman T.K. Gopalacharya Swami acted as its chief editor.

Temple Renovation & Preservation

Temples are the center place of our Indian culture from time immemorial. Every human being is equally responsible to preserve our temples. To serve the purpose, Swamiji started a Society for Renovating Indian temples at Mumbai in August 1974.

For the very first time, the Venugopala Swamy temple in Arthamur and the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swami temple in Sitanagaram were renovated to the full glory and started celebrating the adhyana utsavams every year.

The Beginning of 108 Sri Rama Kratuvu and Sri Rama Sthupas

To be human is not easy. We need to constantly weed out bad thoughts and engage ourselves administering good deeds. This requires a mirror to show the unwanted things in us. And Swamiji envisioned that Sri Ramayana would serve that purpose of mirror in society.

In 1960 Swamiji started performing Sri Rama Kratu for about 9 years. One hundred and eight such Kratus were performed all over India and Nepal. The unique feature of the Kratu was that each one was started at a new place on every Punarvasu star and Agni was kept alive continuously for a period of nine years. In each Kratu, Havan for Sri Rama was done apart from recitation of Sri Ramayanam.

Sri Rama Nama was written on the bricks utilized for the construction of Sri Rama stupas. On the four walls of the stupa, verses from the Samkshepa Ramayanam were engraved. During the entire Yajna, Tadiyaradhana was arranged for all devotees. The Rama Nama written a crore times by the devotees was preserved in each stupa.

This great Movement started off in Nepal and right from Himalayas it covered all across India till Kanyakumari.

The last of 108 Kratuvus was performed on an extra-ordinary grand scale on the Tirumala Hills under the divine presence and blessings of Lord Srinivasa. . With 1000 priests reciting Sri Bhashya, Bhagavad Vishaya and Sri Venkatachala Mahatyam, the 7 hills reverberated with divine Vedic chanting all over.

Swamiji’s Grace is Boundless – Blessed Prisoners in Central Prisons

The mark of a true sage is his infinite compassion on every living being. Nobody escapes their vision. Swamiji’s reach was such that HH blessed even the prisoners in central prisons like Rajahmundry, Madurai.

Swamiji let the prisoners write the divine name of Lord Sri Rama in the jail itself and thus lit a lamp of great joy in their lives.

Swamiji was an erudite scholar. His discourses were lucid in style and attracted both scholars and laymen. They were interspersed with humorous anecdotes. His discourses on Divya Prabhandam would bring out their esoteric meaning in a comprehensible style. Sri Swamiji was well versed in many languages.

First Ever All India Veda Vidwat Sammelan at New Delhi

Ours is the land of Vedas. Our goal of life pursuit and path to follow are shown by Vedic injunctions. We are the followers of this Vedic literature. Swamiji, with 3000 Vedic Scholars and Prabandha Pundits conducted a “Akhila Bharatha Veda Vidwat Sammelan” All India Vedic Conference” in Ramleela grounds of Delhi from 1973 April 4 to April 12.

Smt Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, visited and was awestruck to see so many scholars and their erudition in Vedic literature.

peddajeeyar 4P. B. Annangaracharya Swamiji was the chief guest of this event. Swamiji consulted Vedic scholars and with their advice, for the very first time, formulated a way to conduct Yajnas involving all the four Vedas. The beginning of this was the “Bramha Yajna” conducted in Badarinath with 300 priests. This was known as “Swa:dhya:ya Jna:na Yajna” and Swamiji conducted 108 such Yagnas.

The Prathishta of the famous Birla Sri Venkateswara Temple in Hyderabad was performed by Jeeyar Swamiji.

Swamiji is Acharya to millions of Devotees

Our parents give birth to this material body. But Acharyas give birth to the essential Jnanam inside us, and thus delivering us completely from this material world of duality. Swamiji gave “initiation” to thousands interested, thus essentially becoming “Acharya of entire Bharath”.

Swamiji left for Sri Vaikuntam on December 31, 1979 on Vaikuntha Dwadasi day with His mind meditating the Divine form of Lord Srimannarayana. His Brindavanam was constructed at Nadigaddapalem, Andhra Pradesh India.
